While walking is always an option, precautions should be taken. Not only is the weather generally very hot, but the roads are unmarked and unpaved, you'll need to jump open gutters, and constantly be on the alert for careless drivers who are swerving to avoid potholes. There are some good sidewalks but they do not usually cover the whole distance of your trip so carefully watching for vehicles is always important. Pedestrians are given NO right-of-way. At night time, you may not be visible so a flashlight or reflective vest is advised.
